A three subject spiral notebook
2 red pens for editing
2 blue or black ink pens (always bring a pen to class)
1 pkg of ruled notecards
1 dictionary and thesaurus for home use
1 pkg of notebook paper/wide ruled (do not open pkg)
1 pkg of 5 dividers
1 pkg of page protectors (at least 10)
1 pkg of highlighters - blue, yellow, green, pink, orange
1 composition book
1 green folder with brads
Expectations:
- As 8th graders, I expect mature behavior. Making responsible choices is required in life and certainly in this class.
- I expect you to bring required materials and supplies to class each day.
- I expect assignments to be completed on time and I expect high quality in your efforts.
- I expect courtesy when I am lecturing and I expect all students to be respectful to each other and to me.
- I expect all students to attend class and to arrive on time, fully prepared.
- I expect your full effort in all endeavors
- I expect your work to be readible and your handwriting to be neat. Pride in presentation will be stressed on all assignments.
You obviously have a goal for the year and I am prepared to help you reach that goal of 8th grade graduation and transition into high school by providing required instruction, effective communication skills, and high school readiness instruction to prepare you for your future language and communication needs.
If you need additional tutoring or test preparation, I will be available during my conference periods, and before or after school. Be sure to let me know what time, so I can be in my classroom during that time.
CONFERENCE PERIODS: 2ND AND 4TH PERIODS
I will treat you fairly, respectfully and will teach you the skills required to be successful in the English/Language Arts curriculum and in your future communication requirements.
Blog requirements
Each week, I will post assignments, scheduled tests, helpful links, and any other information that I think will help you in this class. Please refer to this blog daily and invite your parents to view the blog as well.This blog will be a useful organization tool and a great way to communicate with each other.
I look forward to our year together and hope you will take with you a positive experience.
Your 8th grade year should be one of your best years in your school career. Lets work together to make that happen.
